Shervin Pishevar’s Strategic Rant

Posted by SugarMusic on

Everyone has his or her own idea of why founder of Sherpa Capital Shervin Pishevar went on a rant for 21 hours straight.

Some believe the man simply wanted to enlighten people on what is happening in our world.

Others feel Shervin Pishevar is simply trying to divert attention away from his own misdeeds.

One thing’s for certain, however; this rant has got people talking.

Talking about what, exactly?

About everything

Among the topics in Shervin Pishevar’s rants was the claim that big business has “too much power” and is making it increasingly hard for small companies to thrive.

The five specific companies that Pishevar mentioned include

  • Amazon
  • Alphabet
  • Microsoft
  • Facebook
  • Apple

Each of these are beloved companies that probably won’t see a decline in business simply based off of Pishevar’s claims.

Business will continue to boom for these giants simply because customers love the products and are fond of the names behind the products.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, for example, are names that people will know forever. These men will be remembered for their hard work and the way they changed their own lives and the lives of others.

The products are loved simply because people use them personally and professionally.

Take Microsoft, for example.

Microsoft has a software called PowerPoint that people use to make slides for both business use and personal use.

Many times families attend a funeral of a loved one. What is one of the things that they see?

A slideshow of the great times they had when their loved one was still with them. This slide show was probably made using PowerPoint.

The same goes for Facebook:

people use it to stay connected to friends and family and to market their businesses.

Some people have increased their net worth exponentially simply by buying ad space on Facebook.

These companies have changed the way that people live their lives and do business.

More and more people will learn about the benefits of the products these companies offer, and the companies themselves will continue to improve their products, so if Shervin Pishevar’s goal here was to slander big business, it probably won’t work.

Jason Hope predicts huge amounts to be spent on Internet of Things

Posted by SugarMusic on

The world looks up to entrepreneurs who are able to see technological trends before they ever materialize. Those who can see into the future, almost as if they held a crystal ball, are often the ones who are able to change the way that people live, having the power to imagine what is possible before anyone has even thought that such things could exist.

No one fits this description better than Jason Hope, one of Arizona’s most prolific entrepreneurs and one of the most important tech titans currently alive in America today. After having founded Jawa, the first premium content streaming service, which was able to beat Apple, Google and other tech giants to the premium streaming content idea, almost a decade before they adopted that business model, Hope went on to have a superlative career, founding dozens of highly successful startups.

Today, Hope spends the majority of his time writing and blogging about all things technological on his own blog and for a number of tech outlets online. One of the recurring themes and Hope’s writing is that the Internet of Things is going to be the single most important source of technological innovation in the future. Hope predicts that by 2020, there will have been more than $6 trillion invested in Internet of Things technologies. Hope believes that this will represent one of the richest opportunities for young entrepreneurs to make their mark on the technological landscape, providing the opportunity to create businesses today that may prove to be the giants of tomorrow.

Hope believes that the technologies encompassed in the Internet of Things will present one of the most transformative changes that has ever been seen since the technological revolution itself. He predicts that almost everything will be affected, from automobiles to windows to refrigeration systems. Hope believes that one of the most important sources of innovation will be the incredible extent to which things are automated using Internet of Things technologies.

One example that Hope likes to give is the fact that current refrigeration systems are already capable of taking inventories on the items contained within them. Hope believes that tomorrow, these refrigeration systems will actually be able to order groceries automatically on set schedules, which will then be delivered directly to the house automatically after being fulfilled at the grocery store through automated robotics not unlike those seen today and Amazon’s order fulfillment centers.

Hope says that this spread of automation to nearly every aspect of quotidian life will radically transform the way in which everyday Americans live their lives. Hope believes that the Internet of Things will usher in an era of leisure time never seen before in human history, perhaps fulfilling the prophecy of the technological revolution: the virtual abolition of menial work.

Posted by SugarMusic on

John Goullet is an experienced executive officer and entrepreneur. He serves as the executive principal of Diversant, a renowned IT staffing company. Goullet started his career as an IT consultant. He was able to notice that the industry was in dire need of staffing. To this end, John Goullet started working on a plan that would provide companies with experienced professionals. He joined an IT staffing company where he gained the necessary experience before founding Info technologies. His company focused on providing IT staffing services to different firms across the United States. Goullet’s unique management skills saw the company’s worth grow to about $100 million by the year 2000. In 2010, Info Technologies merged with Diversant Inc. They formed a new corporation called Diversant, LLC. Since the merger, Inc. Magazine has quoted the company twice as one of the fastest growing private corporations in the United States.

In an interview posted on Ideamensch, Goullet said that he was encouraged to join the IT staffing industry due to the low barriers to entry that exists in the market. This situation makes it easier for new companies to venture in the business. Before joining the industry, he undertook a comprehensive market analysis to find out how other businesses were performing. The success of such businesses inspired him to start his own. Armed with his previous experience in the field, he was able to incorporate Info Technologies and operate it as a going concern.

John Goullet believes in staying fit. He starts his day by working out in the gym for one hour. By seven o’clock, the executive leader is ready to leave the house. He arrives at his office by eight. John attends to any urgent work before addressing other issues. His office day usually end at six unless he has a dinner appointment. Goullet enjoys spending his evenings with family and friends.

In addition, Goullet spends a good amount of time reading reports from various labor markets. Although there is always a shortage of individuals with IT skills, Goullet focuses on the areas of IT that have the highest demand for staff. He then creates a program that can attract individuals with such skills. John Goullet is a graduate of Ursinus College.
